Nokia goes bullet time on snowboarders, the '90s wants its culture back (video)

Nokia bullet time

Nokia's been an annual fixture at the Open Snowboarding Championships for a few years. While one gets sponsorship dollars, the other gleans a slice of snow sport cool. At this year's event, Nokia rigged up 18 Lumia 800s to capture the snowboarders' mid-air posturing, recording the video with a specially developed app. After a WiFi hook-up (and presumably a little bit of editing), the result was the montage you can see up top, made from around 100 different videos. But where's the iShred?

Hands-On: TweetDeck Wants To Be Your Pro Twitter Client Again

TweetDeck has finally updated to a new version that I think I can proudly use and recommend -- at least to other slightly mental Twitter users, who, like myself, can take advantage of what TweetDeck can do to monitor a ton of information on a big screen.

Google Cloud Print comes to HP ePrint printers

hp google cloud print
HP has become the first major OEM to deliver support for Google Cloud Print in retail-boxed printers. In an official release, HP announced that its ePrint-enabled printers are now fully Cloud Print compatible. Just sign in to your Google account, pick your HP ePrint device, and you're ready to fire off a print job from anywhere you've got Internet access. Well, as long as your app supports Cloud Print as well -- like Gmail and Google Docs, for example.

We're curious, though -- how many of you are still printing? Like our pals at Engadget, our printers have been mostly gathering dust for the last few years.

eBay Sells Off Real Estate Listings Site Rent.com To Primedia

renteBay has sold off one of its properties today, real estate listings site Rent.com. The buyer is Primedia, which helps people find apartments, houses for rent or new homes for sale through websites, mobile and print publications. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed. eBay originally bought Rent.com for $415 million in 2004. At the time, Rent.com fit in with eBay's classifieds and listings business. Obviously, as the company as shifted towards a focus on e-commerce; classifieds, and real estate listings in particular, are no longer of major interest to eBay. Rent.com also partnered with eBay to help build a new shipping platform for eBay Motors.

Flurry: China's surpassed US in iOS and Android activations, but not smartphone install base (yet)

Flurry: China's surpassed US in iOS and Android activations, but not smartphone install base (yet)
Color us unsurprised at the notion that the world's most populous country would one day be home to the greatest number of smartphones. That hasn't happened quite yet, but we're getting close per analytics firm, Flurry, who's measured China's surpassed the United States for the first time in combined iOS and Android activations in March. That's quite a difference from the beginning of 2011, when China held the 10th spot in the firm's rankings, before admittedly rising to an impressive second place by the end of that calendar year. And as you'd expect with growth trending in China's favor, it's now only a matter of when, not if, before it snatches the smartphone install-base crown from the current king, the US of A. But before jostling amongst yourselves on exactly when that'll happen, we'd recommend hitting that source link for a chart-filled run-down. Go on, it's fun for the whole family.

Conserve Your Budget with iPad Rental

Technology does not have to break your budget if you consider an iPad rental rather than a purchase. The cost to purchase an iPad outright can be extremely high. Many people may not have that kind of cash handy. Additionally, Most wireless/3G companies lock the customer into lengthy agreements that may end up being far from perfect. iPad rentals also give the customer the freedom to move on, or stay put if desired. Many online stores offer renting options. Renting [...]
