You thought Sennheiser had already done enough to appease audiophiles this year at CES? Think again. The company has announced yet another new set of headphones with an amp to keep it warm at night, but the high-end wares come at a high-end price. The ceramic IE 800 buds (€599 or $787) offer a broad 5 - 46,000 Hz audio range in spite of their mere 7mm drivers, while stainless steel vents on the back supposedly "improve bass and airflow." If you need some extra juice and don't mind forking over the premium €1,499 ($1,973), the HDVD 800 headphone amp's shell is rocking anodized aluminum and a glass window for peering at the bantam circuitry within -- way over the top, but also, pretty amazing. It supports 24-bit 192kHz sources and is engineered for ideal synergy with Senn's HD 800, HD 700, HD 650 and HD 600. Both should hit the shelves by summer of this year.
Wet race or dry awaits on Circuit Gilles Villeneuve?
A rack of Pirelli slicks in the damp paddock this morning. Will we see slicks or rain tires today for the Canadian Grand Prix? Best scenario? We see both.
They’re wrecking early and often as these words are typed at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve, the pint-sized F-1600s slipping around the wet circuit like a kid on skates for the first time.
The weather suggests it will be dry – or at least won’t be raining – by the 1 pm start of the 42nd Canadian Grand Prix. But the skies are leaden and leaking now and those hoping to stalk the paddock for the lovely women who arrive wearing clothes two sizes too small are going to be disappointed.
A total of three support races will precede the main event, Red Bull’s Sebastian Vettel ready to lead the grid into the Senna Corner to begin 70 laps of racing that should be as unpredictable as always on this challenging layout.
More to come as the day drips on…
The media centre comes to life. Big news out of here: a starling that found its way into this huge tent yesterday and spent the night figured how to lurk near the door a short time ago and escaped when a reporter came in.

Circuit Gilles Villeneuve’s famous Wall of Champions, at the tricky chicane at the top of the stretch leading to the start/finish line, claimed Red Bull’s Sebastian Vettel an hour into morning practice for Sunday’s 42nd Canadian Grand Prix.
Vettel locked his brakes on the entry of the chicane and simply couldn’t get his car back in shape. He hit the padded wall right at the bonjourquebec.com ad that’s placed there by the government of Quebec.
Vettel was unhurt; the same can’t be said for his car, which was a mess. Beautiful tire smudge he ground into the red-and-white padding, too.
The defending world champion should be back on the track for the 2 p.m. session, the day’s second and final 90-minute F1 practice.
Wacom just released an update to their Bamboo Stylus. Their new Bamboo Stylus Duo adds a ballpoint pen on the other end of the stylus. This new design makes much more sense as you won’t have to carry an additional pen. They will sell for $39.95 when they come out in May.
Apple has been accused of acting as ringleader of a price-fixing racket, enlisting half a dozen market-dominating companies in a conspiracy to profiteer through anticompetitive practices and artificial price inflation. The market: e-books.
Evernote, the popular multi-platform 'digital memory' app, has done some serious re-tooling of its Web interface. In addition to a more polished UI that more closely mirrors the look of Evernote on the desktop, the update brings features like notebook stacks and snippet view to the Web. Auto-saving is now enabled as well, and you can select multiple items by holding down the Cmd or Ctrl key on your Mac or Windows keyboard. If you've got items stored in your notebooks that you want to share with friends or co-workers, Evernote has improved that process, too. You can quickly post an item to Facebook, share it via email, or generate a Web sharing link to paste into an IM conversation or status update. Head over to the Evernote Web login page to try out the new interface.
Golf is the game of kings. Or is that polo? Whatever, no matter. Golf is also a game about a bag of tools. Wood or iron? What's your favorite number? The more tools in your bag, the better. So this two-in-one golf putter seems pretty smart! More »

Sources close to former RIM co-CEO Jim Balsillie have revealed his plans to save the company before he was shown the door, a plan that didn't involve handsets. He'd entered into talks with AT&T, Verizon and several European carriers to offer them use of the company's BlackBerry-exclusive network to provide limited data plans to featurephone users that included social networking and BBM -- with the aim of reducing the cellphone operators data burden and coaxing users to upgrade to smartphones. The company was working on Mobile Fusion; software that allowed enterprise and government users on iOS and Android devices to join RIM's system, which reportedly earns the company $1 billion per quarter. However, while talks progressed, company execs grew nervous and ousted him in favor of Thorsten Heins with a mandate to focus on BB10 and new devices rather than turning RIM into a service company. However, given that it's still losing money on its handset business, Heins has reopened the door to Balsillie's plan. It's just a shame Balsillie himself is keeping quiet, as we'd love to hear his thoughts in an executive-level edition of How Would you Change.
When Firefox 4's tab grouping tool, Panorama, had its keyboard shortcut changed to the finger-breaking combo of Ctrl+Shift+E, we thought Panorama would get dropped before FF4's final release -- but, thankfully, it made the cut! If you've used Firefox 4 and Panorama, you might have noticed that Mozilla's new browser doesn't always save your tab groupings when you close the browser -- a bit of a pain, if you spend a long time setting up the perfect groups! This is tied into the removal of the 'Save and Quit' dialog box -- and enabling Panorama tab group saving is just a matter of re-enabling the Save and Quit dialog. Open a new tab and head to about:config. Click through the warning and type 'quit' into the filter box. Double click browser.showQuitWarning to change its value to true (see image after the break). That's it -- now you'll have the option of saving your tabs, and thus tab groups, when you close Firefox. For more tech tips, visit our tips index.
