Sonic 4: Episode II Tegra 3 edition review

Sonic 4

Remember back to Christmas, and we let you know that Sega and NVIDIA would be bringing an enhanced Tegra 3 version of Sonic 4: Episode II, and today is that day! If you thought Sega did a great job with Sonic 4 Episode I, wait until you try this one! Designed for the Tegra 3 SoC, the latest addition to the popular Sonic the Hedgehog franchise brings true console quality gaming, easy controls, and hours of fun for folks with the right hardware to run it. The rolling, the jumping, the bouncing -- it's all there, and looks as good as it ever did thanks to the new HD graphics engine and in-game physics, and the backgrounds and ambient sounds are done the way only the Tegra 3 can bring them to you.

If the single-player action isn't enough to get you excited about Sonic and Tails, grab a buddy with a Tegra 3 device and play co-op via Bluetooth. And when you hook up a wireless controller, it's just more fun than you can imagine. This game rocks!

How a Single Bolt Sidelined a Submarine for Three Months [Submarines]

If you heard an ominous sound coming from your car's engine, what would you do? Most people probably wouldn't continue to gun the engine, trying different gears until the problem went away. But if you were the crew of the guided missile-equipped USS Georgia and you heard some clunking coming from the submarine's engine, that's exactly what you would do. A newly uncovered Navy report reveals that when a single loose bolt rolled into the USS Georgia's propulsion shaft, its crew kept the engine running for two days while trying to figure out why it wasn't working. Of course, brass wasn't happy: More »

Windows Home Server 2011 released to manufacturers

windows home server 2011 whs
Just a little under two months after its release candidate went live, Windows Home Server (WHS) 2011 has been finalized and released into the wild. The new version of Microsoft's slick, do-it-all server OS is a big step forward from its predecessor.

Built on the Windows Server 2008 R2 base, Home Server 2011 features a simpler dashboard, a better backup solution, dead simple remote access to your home computers, and Silverlight-powered remote media streaming. For a more detailed look at what's new in Windows Home Server 2011, you check out Microsoft's official breakdown.

Drive Extender, of course, didn't resurface for the final release of WHS 2011 and that's something a lot of power users are still pretty irked about. Even without Extender, Windows Home Server offers a boatload of useful functionality and might be a good fit for your home network. Manufacturers have already begun building hardware, so you should be able to pick up a device in the very near future.

An evaluation download for Windows Home Server 2011 will be made available in April -- we'll let you know when the links are ready.

Cops Found a Ridiculous Amount of Drugs Up Some Guy's Butt [Crime]

Eighty-four bags of crack. Two hundred-eighteen Oxycodone pills. Eleven grams of weed. If that sounds like enough drugs to fill a small warehouse, you're right. Assuming that warehouse was Alex Boulet's butt. More »

Google, FCC Showdown Spotlights Technology Law Lag

Google is trying to do damage control and prove it had no nefarious goals with its ambitious Street View project, following an FCC into the search giant's collection and storage of data from millions of unknowing households across the country. The FCC determined in its report that the data collection was not illegal; however, it slapped Google with a $25,000 fine for obstructing its investigation -- a contention Google has denied.

Spotify for iPad: A Glimpse at the Future of Spotify [Video]

As has been mentioned again and again and again and again and again and again, Spotify's apps have, at best, been decent. Its in-house-developed mobile apps have been universally terrible. But a couple of weeks ago Spotify dropped a preview of its revamped Android app, and now arrives its new iPad app, which is everything any of its other apps are not. Clean, visual, and most importantly, thoughtfully designed. More »
