Comcast and FCC partner to give low-income families access to internet, Nyan Cats

Like a giant warlock guarding the gates of the interwebs, financial barriers all too often block our young people from accessing the plethora of awesomeness found in front of those iconic triple-Ws-and-a-dot. In a bid to spread the love more evenly, the FCC and Comcast's promised Internet Essentials platform is going live -- giving low-income families $9.99 / month web access and "discounted" (read: $149.99) computers. The platform that we first heard about in August will also include a Norton Security Suite and computer training for youngsters and their parents alike. The cable provider is accepting participants until 2014, honoring the contract dependent on the child's status and family income. Like other heavy hitters involved in similar initiatives, the goal is to bridge the education gap and to provide a more level playing field for kids. To get more details on the program, direct your attention to the source link.

Video: Padzilla Case Turns Your iPad Into An iCoffeeTable

4There were quite a few thoughts running through my head when I purchased an iPad, but I can honestly say that "I wish I had an iPad as big as a coffee table" wasn't one of them. Now, after having seen Crunchy Logistics's Padzilla case, I can safely say it's all I'm thinking about right now.

Xband ? Wallet and Money Clip Alternative

The Xband looks like an easy to use alternative to a money clip. It’s similar to the Bandit Wallet that I reviewed last year, only infinitely better due to the X design. It’s a double elastic band that comes in Black, Grey or Tan. The cool thing is that you can unhook the top band [...]

Shogun Bros. updates Chameleon X-1 mouse / gamepad, tosses it up for pre-order

Perfection is an undeniably lofty goal, but that's exactly what Shogun Bros. is striving for, with a freshly announced update to its Chameleon X-1 gaming mouse. Available in three different colors, the company's "Perfect Version" of its gamepad / mouse boasts an enhanced rubberized coating for better grip, a new layout for remote control operation and, perhaps best of all, extended battery life. Other than that, it's essentially the same device we saw way back in December, with a 5-stage adjustable 1600dpi optical sensor, a full slate of 16 buttons and force feedback support. Shogun Bros. won't be releasing this perfected peripheral until October 1st, but you can pre-order one now at Amazon, for $60. Hit up the source link to make the purchase, or slice past the break for a very succinct press release.

Logitech Wireless Touchpad for Windows

The target market for Logitech’s Windows-only Wireless Touchpad is a strange one. It consists of people who are sufficiently Apple-aware to want a wireless multitouch trackpad, who have $50 lying around to buy one, and yet — inexplicably — haven’t actually bought a Mac. Despite this odd start, Logitech seems to have got everything else right: [...]

Competition is a good thing, and the browser arena has been a fierce arena for years now. There are at least four "major" browsers each vying for your attention, along with lots of smaller spin-offs (SRWare Iron or Flock, anyone?).

While the browser usage charts we share from time to time show overall browser usage amongst the Web at large, Download Squad readers are not exactly the average bunch in terms of browser use. So today we have one simple question for you:

What's your primary Web browser?
